Is fungal acne dangerous?

Like most fungal infections, fungal acne is rarely dangerous. And most of the time it’s easily treatable. It might cause discomfort and itchiness, but it shouldn't hurt.

Fungal skin conditions usually only become harmful if left untreated, if they break the skin and lead to infection underneath the surface.1 It’s important not to scratch fungal acne in order to avoid tearing the skin and increasing the risk of further infection.
